Gag action with medium shank allows for more "whoa" and "lift" than just a regular snaffle whilst still allowing a direct rein. The chain mouth also gives even more bend than a regular or three piece mouth.
Despite it's appearance this is actually quite a soft bit to use and many horses find the chain mouth very comfortable
